Mindful Classroom

Following on the MBSR-ED course, this course has been designed for educators to deepen their own mindfulness practice and learn how to incorporate a variety of mindfulness practices in the classroom.

Sponsor a Student

Your generous donations play an integral role in empowering our educators, and students. Mindfulness builds resilience, promotes emotional control and encourages positive behaviour.

Individuals (who may have never had the opportunity to do so) can learn the skills that enable them to engage calmly with their thoughts, emotions and other people.

The mindset change enables all involved to stay focused, stay on track academically and avoid potential behaviour problems.

Testimonials

Celeste

MBSR-ED participant

I feel more in control of myself, in particular when I experience stressful or emotional moments. Because I feel more in control, I have more self-confidence.

I don’t feel guilty anymore when I take time to take care of myself.  I am going to try not to judge myself so much – I have realised that I spend a lot of energy on things that I cannot control in any case.

I should have done this a long time ago – it was very interesting and I learned a lot.

I enjoyed the course and I think it is something that everybody can benefit from. It would be wonderful if all teachers could experience it.

Programme Manager

This helped me immensely, because I struggle to let go and to relax.  I now incorporate mindfulness in my life on a daily basis.

I think all personnel will benefit from the course; it may help us to reduce absenteeism that is related to stress.

Elsa

Lecturer

I learned that I could benefit a lot from all types of meditation, especially the movement one.  Once I had a severe headache and neck pain before that meditation and afterwards the pain was gone.

I have realised that I am extremely tired and am struggling to find the mental energy to do what I have to do. This helped me to regain some of that energy.

It is a practical course and you walk away with a tool or a skill that is practical and can be used for you own as well as your students’ benefit.

Our students need to develop the emotional resilience to work hard, stay motivated and deal with stressful situations in a positive and productive manner.  I believe with mindfulness we can help our students develop these qualities and it is a much needed tool that can support both students and lecturers.

In my experience both students and educators want to be healthy, successful and happy.  Mindfulness is a way to help both educators and students to achieve these goals.

After participating in this course I believe that mindfulness should be incorporated in the training of all teachers.

Overall, I felt happier and more positive towards work and life in general

To me, some of the most important benefits of the course were that I felt more in control as well as less anxious and impulsive.
